Anna Boothe: Amber Sentient Sculptured Flacon
This terrific pate de verre piece by Anna Boothe was created in response to a collaboration with painter Frances Middendorf (Italy and United States) and master perfumer Leonardo Opali (Italy). This flacon is fashioned to hold a perfume that Opali chemically reconstructed from an oil the Etruscans once used.
Many of Boothe's pieces include hands as symbols. Their use carries an underlying tone of commonality between cultures: familiarity, camaraderie, and the general ability to communicate.
Boothe, of Zieglerville, Pennsylvania, has work in the permanent collection of The Corning Museum of Glass and many private collections.
