Oiva Toikka: Rose-Breasted Grosbeak
These stocky, medium-sized songbirds have very large triangular bills. They are broad-chested with a short neck, and medium-length tail. Adult males are black and white with a brilliant red chevron extending from the black throat down to the middle of the breast.
When designing this creation, Toikka focused on pure color saturation to mirror that which is found in nature. The emphasized, natural tone beak is pronounced with goldish-brown luster details on its back to add special character to this robust bird.
