Commemorating a Crystal Legacy: A Shining Partnership

November 15Tom Power and Unfinished Vase

The Shops at The Corning Museum of Glass is partnering with Waterford for a first-of-its-kind exclusive cut glass event.

Inspired by the 150th Anniversary of glassmaking coming to The Crystal City, Waterford’s Head of Design, Matt Kehoe, designed the Sunburst Vase. Each element of the design has symbolic meaning with the sunburst design representing the many days of hard work and dedication needed to master the craft of glass making. The vase also features the four vertical wedge cuts, stretching from bottom to top. These stunning cuts symbolize the progress and innovation that has defined Corning for 150 years.

A limited edition of 10 vases will be cut by Master Cutter, Tom Power. Tom began his career with Waterford as a Wedge Cutter 1969. Within ten years, he advanced to Master Wedge Cutter. Now approaching his 50th anniversary of cutting glass, he is renowned for cutting dynamic, bespoke, and one-off pieces.

The limited edition pieces will be available exclusively through The Shops at The Corning Museum of Glass in store and online on November 15.
