Journal of Glass Studies, Vol. 20, 1978
Published in 1978 by The Corning Museum of Glass
In this issue, Robert J. Charleston offers a pair of articles: The first is a survey of glass furnaces through the ages; the second is a close look at the Houghton Box, a stunning gold and enamel piece in the form of a glass furnace that was made in Germany in the late 17th or early 18th centuries. This issue also features a listing of recent important acquisitions, complete with pictures.
Published since 1959, the generously illustrated Journal of Glass Studies is the only academic publication devoted entirely to the scholarship of the art, history, and early technology of glass.
