Jussi Sistonen-Lonnroth: Kuura Candle

SKU: KG2017-05

This Kuura glass is handmade by Jussi Sistonen-Lonnroth. "Kuura" means frost in Finnish which inspired Jussi to create this beautiful glass.

While walking next to the Chemung River on a chilly September morning, Finnish native Jussi Sistonen-Lonnroth observed a fine layer of frost covering the trees, stones, and grass around him. The beauty of the frost in that moment inspired him to capture it in his glass.

Jussi Sistonen-Lonnroth is glass artist/designer based in Corning NY. He received his BFA in Design and communication from Tampere school of art and design. After more than 15 years working as a graphic and user interface designer in the fast-changing mobile device and services world he was introduced to working with hot molten glass and change of medium was clear. He has studied glass medium intensively under many glass artists at The Studio of Corning Museum of Glass for last six years.
