Matthew Curtis: Small Sculpture
This small sculpture is by Matthew Curtis.
Matthew Curtis is repeatedly drawn to the complexity and beauty of the microscopic architecture of living organisms. “I am interested in capturing a depth and complexity to the blown and cast glass components I produce, where the finish of the sculpture captures a veiled aesthetic,” said Curtis. His glass structures invite viewers to contemplate an illusory experience of discovery, a moment of wonder at the complexity of the natural world.
Curtis was selected as one of the 100 artists included in New Glass Now, a global survey of contemporary glass at The Corning Museum of Glass that opened in May 2019.
