Simone Crestani: Chicken Decanter
A headless, transparent glass hen, reproduced by the artist in vivid detail, guards the wine inside its portly belly until it is poured out through the hint of a beak into an equally unusual claw-based glass. A wine set in the form of a surprising and playful sculptural creation.
Simone Crestani is an artist, a designer, and a glassblowing master. He was born in Marostica, in the region of Venice, where he still lives and works. He started working with glass in 2000 as Massimo Lunardon’s apprentice, during which time he mastered different techniques of flameworking. Crestani is inspired by “the never-ending variety of the natural world, and how the shapes of animals and plants magically come to life, even in their tiniest details, in a celebration of lightness and transparency,” he says.
