Trabucco Studios: Morning Glory Paperweight
This beautiful piece is by Victor Trabucco, who began working with glass in 1974 after seeing a flameworker make a sculpture. His work is often inspired by nature, capturing the beauty and motion of the subject and freezing a moment in time.
Trabucco sculptures are made of solid crystal; no forms or molds are used. The technique is entirely free-hand, consisting of sensitive and meticulous manipulation of molten glass.
Says the artist: "Glass is the ultimate challenge; it has properties of no other material and offers the artist possibilities that are inspiring for the creative process. As technical problems are solved, it offers the artist more latitude for artistic expression."
